Ramp It Up! and Save the Date: May, 1 2008

Stavros Center for Independent Living has announced final plans for its first "Ramp it Up!: A Bridge to Independence" gala fundraising event at the Kittredge Center, Holyoke Community College on May 1, 2008 from 6 to 8pm.

The centerpiece of the evening will see seven corporately sponsored teams of "builders" in an artistic building competition. Similar to "Junkyard Wars," the challenge will be to build a sculpture that matches the theme, "Ramp it up: a Bridge to Independence," out of unusable medical equipment and various building supplies that will be provided for them. The teams will compete against the clock and each other, and the winner will exhibit originality, artistic sense, and exemplification of the idea--central to Stavros's work--of a Bridge to Independence.

While the building teams create their masterpieces, attendees will enjoy a cocktail party and silent art auction.
