Finding affordable, accessible housing can be one of the biggest challenges faced by persons with disabilities. The rent at many apartments is out of reach for many persons with disabilities. While subsidies aren’t easy to come by, we work with you to get the best rental assistance available. At Stavros, we provide the resources and assistance people need to find housing that works for them. We keep regularly updated lists of accessible apartments throughout Massachusetts. We also offer monthly workshops in the basic how-tos of finding the right apartment.
Stavros Housing Services provides information on accessible, subsidized and market rate housing in western Massachusetts. Stavros sends lists of housing opportunities and related material to consumers interested in living in western Massachusetts. In addition to available housing, Stavros also provides information about modifications and financing possibilities. We also hold housing trainings frequently.

Accommodations and Discrimination
Lots of apartments could work very well with a few changes. We help YOU make requests to landlords for reasonable accommodations, and we also work closely with attorneys to protect persons with disabilities from discrimination. Problems and Evictions
Our experienced advocates work with disabled tenants to resolve disputes with landlords and offer assistance in the face of evictions.
Home Modifications
For many elders and persons with disabilities, adding new features to bathrooms or kitchens or adding an outdoor ramp can make the difference between dependence and independence. We offer education and assistance for persons seeking financing for such improvements. Please view our Home Sweet Home section.
