SUMMER KAYAK CAMPS FOR KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
July 21 - 22 & July 28 - 29
With certified adaptive paddling instructor Alicia Wendolowski students will learn essential kayak safety and paddling skills. This program is open to students with physical, cognitive and developmental special needs. Pre-registration is mandatory. Cost for the 2 day camp is $50. Classes will meet at the Holyoke Boathouse.
CONNECTICUT RIVER PADDLING TRIPS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Sponsored by DCR"s Universal Access Program, Holyoke Rows is running three Connecticut River kayak trips. These are free programs for people with disabilities and their families. Celebrate the Promise of the ADA. It's been twenty years since the Americans with Disabilities Act became law, and we want to celebrate with all of western Massachusetts. More details soon, but it's shaping up into a major event you won't want to miss. July 24 on the Amherst Common from 11 am to 4 pm; flyer below for more info. See you there!

2010 SUMMER SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Special Olympics Summer Games will be held at Harvard University Complex and Boston University on Friday, June 18- Sunday, June 20.
Over 2,200 athletes compete and 1,200 volunteers are tapped to be at Harvard University's athletic complex the weekend of Father's Day to enjoy elite competitions.
The Healthy Athletes Program also takes center stage at Summer Games during the weekend as hundreds of Special Olympics athletes have the opportunity to be screened in a variety of health issues including dental and vision as well as others including Fit Feet, hearing and nutrition.
Accessible Recreation Fair
Date: Saturday June 5, 2010
Time: 10AM - 3PM
Location: Artesian Park (located at 1234 Soldiers' Field in Brighton)
The Department of Conservation and Recreation's (DCR) Universal Access Program (UAP) will offer a fun-filled day of celebrating accessible outdoor recreation available for individuals, families and friends of people with disabilities. Activities will include a cycling fair with an assortment of accessible cycles available for use and adaptive recreational activities. Sign up for a wide array of summer opportunities, such as kayaking, sailing and hiking in the Boston area and beyond. This is a free event that is open to the public.
Pre-registration is highly recommended to reserve your spot.

Stavros is Seeking Volunteers!
2010 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Brainstorming ideas for an event that would both celebrate the Act and educate the public. If you are interested in helping, please contact Janet Shaw @ ext 232 or jshaw@stavros.org.

Stavros' Funding Workshops
Learn about funding options and resources for home or vehicle modifications at our monthly funding workshops. These workshops are free and are held on the first Tuesday of the month in our Springfield office at 262 Cottage Street. They last about two hours.
Stavros' Housing Workshops
Stavros usually holds a workshop once a month to help consumers find adequate and accessible housing, alternating between our Springfield office (262 Cottage Street) and our Amherst office (210 Old Farm Rd). The trainings are all on Thursdays from 1:00 pm until 3 pm.
